Web-app

The majority of changes this month were focused on improving page loads and computational speed-ups. This is an ongoing project and should make navigating the Output & Revenue Explorers, Scenario Analysis pages, and general navigation considerably faster. In addition, we are transitioning to a faster optimization solver, which will reduce computation times for challenging optimizations.

Expandable Revenue Metrics

Beyond that, the main UI change we made was to allow expandable tables to quickly view revenue metrics across the project term.

This is also the first release of a larger project focused on overhauling how we pull out detailed modeling results in a more scalable & less time-intensive manner. Stay tuned.

API

We expanded our API library to include detailed treatment of HVAC systems for battery storage, and Medium Voltage Transformers. While this could previously be represented approximately through related loss factors, these changes allow for more precise and non-linear treatment of each.

Forecasting & Optimization (CAISO Heatwave)

Tyba is continuously improving its price forecasting and optimization approaches. During the recent heatwave in California and corresponding strained grid conditions, Tyba’s price forecasting and optimization (or task) performed extremely well.

Image details Tyba’s real-time energy price prediction (blue) vs. actual prices (black) during the period spanning 9/4/22 to 9/10/22. Included the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile ranked node based on mean absolute error (MAE) from a sampling of ~50 nodes across CAISO.
